Cantest mourns the passing of founder and long-term Chairman of the Board

On Friday, November 6, Dr. Donald Rix, one of the founders of Cantest and its Chairman of the Board until the recent sale of the company to Maxxam Analytics, passed away at age 78 following a long illness.

“Dr. Rix was a business and community leader who had reached the pinnacle of success. Yet, notwithstanding his countless professional and personal achievements, he had no intention of letting up”, says Jon Hantho, CEO of Maxxam Analytics. “His boundless energy and his unwavering commitment to creating successful businesses that would contribute to British Columbia and Canada were remarkable. Dr. Rix was a Canadian success story personified.”

A community volunteer, philanthropist, investor and mentor to countless young entrepreneurs, his many accolades include investiture in the Order of British Columbia in 2004 and the Order of Canada in 2007.

He was an inspiration and a mentor to many at Cantest, and all were touched by his energy and sincerity. He will be greatly missed.
