Metabolite Identification Testing

Pharmaceutical Services > Drug Development Process > Metabolite Identification Testing

Biotransformations catalyzed by enzymes are divided into:

1. Phase I reactions (oxidation, reduction and hydrolysis
2. Phase II reactions (glucuronidation, sulfation, aceytlation, methylation and conjugation with glutathione and amino acids)

CANTEST offers metabolite identification from various biological matrices in vitro and in vivo for compound safety and metabolism studies. These services include chromatography, sample preparation method development and metabolite identification using LC-MS/MS. Once a project is complete, customers receive:

  • Proposed metabolite molecular weights;
  • Hypothesis of metabolite structures, supported by spectra obtained in various mass spectrometric scans (neutral loss scan, precursor ion scan and product ion scan);
  • Analytical profile of parent and metabolites

In order to estimate metabolite abundance in different matrices, the proposed metabolites can be re-tested when candidate compounds are synthesized.
