August 9, 2007

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is reminding those companies that qualified for an extended transition period to comply with new nutritional labelling regulations of the upcoming December 12, 2007 deadline.

In a letter to small food manufacturers, importers and retailers, the CFIA outlines the steps that have been taken since 2003 to work towards the regulations enforcing that all prepackaged food products sold in Canada must comply with the applicable nutrition labelling requirements.

The complete letter can be found here.

If you have any questions about nutritional labelling or would like to find out how CANTEST can assist you in complying with the regulations, please email us at foodsafety@cantest.com.
