Chemical Product Evaluation
Specialty Services > Specialty Chemistry > Chemical Product Evaluation
CANTEST has the facilities and scientific expertise required to perform tests for regulatory compliance, or to evaluate a new or modified chemical product or formulation to help its clients achieve and maintain a competitive edge.
Manufacturers of chemical-based products often need to evaluate their own products, and sometimes those of their competitors’.
Chemical product evaluations are often non-routine. CANTEST is able to custom-design experiments and interpret results.
Chemical product evaluations that have been conducted include the following:
-
Leaching Rates of Antifouling Paints
This experimental set-up involved artificial sea water, preparation of painted specimens for testing, ion exchange columns and monitoring the active ingredient over a 45 day period.
- Efficacy of a Formulation for Removal of Odoriferous Compounds
A variety of analytical methods were used to construct an environmental chamber, generate artificial gas streams and monitor odoriferous compounds.
- Flocculant Dosage Rates
These bench scale studies included variables such as dosage rate, suspended solid concentration, stirring rate, temperature and settling time.
- Efficacy of a Water Purification Filtration System
Source waters were dosed and pumped through a filtration system, and removal rates of contaminants were monitored over time and volume.
- Level of Antioxidant in a Plastic Material
Analytical methods were modified and antioxidant levels determined in both control and client plastic samples.
- Concentration of Active Ingredients
Testing involved independent third party quality control by verifying active ingredient concentrations in a medicinal formulation.
