IC/ HPLC

CANTEST possesses both PEEK and stainless-steel based LC systems related to a wide range of the company's detection capabilities, including diode-array UV, conductivity, electrospray and APCI MS, and ICPMS. Current LC systems include an Agilent HP1090, a Waters Alliance and 2 Dionex machines.

Applications of IC/ HPLC

HPLC systems provide broad ultraviolet and visible range wavelength detection with the possibility of simultaneous MS detection. The purity of known compounds eluted by HPLC can be determined relative to other unknown elution peaks and the unknowns screened for spectral fingerprinting by 3D diode-array detection. This three dimensional monitoring can even help provide structural information about closely related chemical species, as shown below for the separation of vanadium V(IV) and V(V).

Our ion chromatography systems consist of inert PEEK-based equipment especially suited to the analysis of inorganic ions and biological species. Anions such as fluoride, trifluoroacetate, and perchlorate are routinely analyzed in a variety of environmental and pharmaceutical matrices by ion chromatography with suppressed conductivity detection.

Specific Applications Include

  • Purity analysis (3D fingerprinting by UV diode-array detection)
  • Routine drug analysis (UV detection)
  • Routine anion analysis (fluoride, chloride, perchlorate) by conductivity detection
  • Separation and identification of complex and trace compound mixtures (identity or molecular weight determinations by MS) and
  • Metal speciation analysis and metallo-drugs trace detection (using LC-ICPMS)
