CANTEST's racetrack drug testing services are provided to regulatory agencies responsible for administration of drug control programs. The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency is the federal body responsible for supervision of pari-mutuel betting at racetracks and CANTEST is the Agency's primary laboratory facility.
Each urine or blood sample received by the laboratory is screened for the presence of over 2 000 drugs and drug metabolites that may enhance performance or otherwise contravene the regulations. Samples that are determined to have potential positive results using the initial screening methodology are then re-analyzed by mass spectrometry to confirm the identity of the detected substance.
