Clinical Research

CANTEST Clinical Research has been in operation since 1999 serving as a specialty contract research organization and clinical site for Phase I and IIa studies. In addition, CANTEST Clinical Research offers support in “First-In-Man” testing, regulatory affairs, protocol design, pharmacokinetics, statistical analysis and report writing. 

History

CANTEST Clinical Research began in 1998 as CroMedica Prime. At that time, the CroMedica Group of Medicines Development Companies wished to develop Phase I and IIa capabilities to round out their ability to provide complete coverage of human clinical trials from Phase I through IV. In keeping with CroMedica's philosophy of providing quality service well grounded in medicine and science, it was decided that any unit developed should have high-end capabilities, allowing for "First-In-Man", patient and other trials.

To meet these objectives, CroMedica Global Inc. entered into a joint venture with Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre (now called Vancouver Coastal Health Authority), the University of British Columbia and the BIRC Corporation. The clinical facility was constructed in a critical care ward of the Vancouver Hospital and opened its doors in June 1999.

In June 2002, the CroMedica Group merged with PRA International. As part of this process, CroMedica Prime was renamed Prime Trials Inc. with restructured management and new partners.  

CANTEST acquired majority interest in Prime Trials in early 2006. On November 1, 2006, the group began operating under its new name, CANTEST Clinical Research. 

In February of 2008, CANTEST Clinical Research initiated a corporate restructuring.   This process will ultimately result in a change to our clinical services.  As we complete the restructuring, operational staff will ensure a smooth transition for clients.  More information will be posted shortly.  We thank you for your patience during this time of transition.
