CANTEST Chairman Named 2005 Entrepreneur Of The Year® in the Pacific Region Life Sciences CategoryBurnaby, British Columbia. Burnaby-based Life Sciences company CANTEST is pleased to announce that Dr. Donald Rix has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2005 Pacific Region award in the Health Sciences category. The award honors the impact Dr. Rix’s entrepreneurial spirit has made on British Columbia’s scientific and business communities, as well as the successes and challenges that have shaped his 40-year career in the Life Sciences sector. Dr. Rix is the Co-founder of Metro-McNair Laboratories and pioneered the development of new and innovative techniques for delivering improved health services. Under his leadership, this firm evolved into MDS Metro, the largest independent community laboratory in BC. Similarly, his entrepreneurial leadership has been the driving force behind CANTEST, which has quadrupled its staff and revenues over the past decade and has developed partnerships with organizations throughout Canada, the United States and Southeast Asia. Dr. Rix’s award was announced last night at a gala event in Vancouver, amongst six other category award winners as well as the winner of the regional Entrepreneur of the Year award.
