Burnaby, British Columbia. Burnaby-based Life Sciences company CANTEST is pleased to announce that Dr. Donald Rix, Chairman of the Board, was chosen as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2005 award.
Dr. Rix is the Co-founder of Metro-McNair Laboratories and pioneered the development of new and innovative techniques for delivering improved health services. Under his leadership, this firm evolved into MDS Metro, the largest independent community laboratory in BC. Similarly, his entrepreneurial leadership has been the driving force behind CANTEST, which has quadrupled its staff and revenues over the past decade and has developed partnerships with organizations throughout Canada, the United States and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Rix is one of 26 finalists selected for the Pacific region who will compete in 7 categories for the Entrepreneur of the Year title, which will be awarded during a gala celebration on October 3rd. Past winners of the prestigious award include Robert Madigan of Teligence (2004) and Dr. Julia Levy of QLT (2001).
