PRESS RELEASE

April 7, 2004

Burnaby, British Columbia - Leading Canadian Life Sciences Laboratory CANTEST Ltd. purchases SOILCON Laboratories Limited.

The completion of the transaction, announced today by CANTEST president Don M. Enns, involves the acquisition of 100% of the Richmond BC based agricultural, geotechnical and environmental soils testing facility. SOILCON will continue to operate as a separate entity at its existing location.

Mr. Enns believes the purchase will benefit both organizations through the consolidation of complimentary services: “One of CANTEST’s principal strengths is diversity. With the acquisition of SOILCON, we are adding expertise in the areas of agricultural and geotechnical soils analysis thus allowing the company to offer a broader scope of services to existing clientele in the environmental and food safety sectors.”

For over a decade, SOILCON has provided quality soils analysis and associated consulting to a broad range of clientele. The company specializes in agricultural, geotechnical and environmental chemistry, as well as related research activities.

CANTEST is an employee-owned and operated full-service testing company, offering professional analysis in the areas of environment, food, microbiology, industrial health, forensic drug and GLP bioanalytical chemistry. The company has Canadian offices in Burnaby, Kelowna, Winnipeg and Victoria and is the flagship of the CANAM Laboratories Group which operates facilities in Canada, the United States and Southeast Asia.
