CANTEST Appoints new Senior Staff

Vesna Janic, B.Sc, Quality Assurance Manager -
Ms. Janic is responsible for the development, management and administration of the Quality Assurance Unit (QA) that serves ABR, the GLP bio-analytical services division of CANTEST. The QA unit regularly conducts in-study process and facility-based quality audits, as well as the audit of study plans, raw data and final client reports. Vesna's role in communicating with other QA professionals in multi-site regulated studies is particularly important to ABR. Ms. Janic brings added value and expertise to ABR as a Registered Quality Assurance Professional (RQAP) in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), with certification from the Society of Quality Assurance. She is also registered as a volunteer GLP Inspector with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).

Bernard Nutley, Ph.D., Director, Research and Development -
Dr. Nutley brings a breadth of technical experience to ABR's method development team with a significant depth of knowledge in early drug discovery and pre-clinical pharmacology screening, as well as bio-analytical support services. Bernard's experience, gained at the Mass Spectrometry facility at the Centre for Cancer Therapeutics, Institute of Cancer in Surrey UK, will particularly be useful to clients in early discovery phases of drug development programs. Dr. Nutley is skilled in a number of analytical techniques and experimental approaches and has had
exposure to a variety of new chemical entities (NCE), spanning small molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides and certain lipid classes. Dr. Nutley will enhance ABR's research and development team to bring new support services to its biotechnology clients.

Chrystal Palaty, Ph.D., Project Manager -
Dr. Palaty's postgraduate education and previous project management experience will enhance the role of project management at ABR and improve the efficiency of its bio-analytical operations. In her new role, Dr. Palaty acts as an advocate for ABR's clients, ensuring that projects are completed within allotted time frames and budgets. Chrystal's responsibilities include project planning and coordination, resource allocation related to on-going bioanalytical projects and, foremost, being a consistent and direct client liaison for all project related communications. Dr. Palaty will play a keyrole as ABR manages its increased demand for high quality bio-analytical services.
