Policy

CANTEST maintains the principles of integrity and trust with respect to the privacy of personal information. As part of this commitment, CANTEST will protect the privacy of personal information provided by applicants for employment with the Company, employees of the Company and those who choose to submit such information to the Company through the CANTEST web site. To ensure this commitment, the Company agrees to comply with all applicable privacy laws, particularly with the Personal Information Protection Act of British Columbia.

What is personal information?
Personal information is recorded information about an identifiable individual and includes such things as an individual’s name, address, birthdate, e-mail and phone number.

Collection and use of personal information
CANTEST collects personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide employment and to provide employment related benefits with the Company 
  • To facilitate response to business inquiries
  • To help determine the suitability of our services to fit your needs and
  • To set-up and manage services requested and to maintain business relationships.

Personal information may be collected from:

Employees or Applicants for Employment:

  • Your name, home address, telephone & fax numbers and e-mail address
  • Social insurance number, your birth date and/ or birth date of your dependents
  • Beneficiary and dependents information
  • Your Status in Canada
  • Health Care Card number if you apply for MSP coverage through the company
  • Health information in the form of Doctor’s note to determine eligibility for company sick leave benefits and disability benefits
  • Health information if you are applying for additional life insurance coverage and disability insurance and the amount of the insurance
  • Banking information for payroll direct deposit
  • Photographs for internal purposes only including the company intranet
  • Education and employment history
  • Certificate of education, qualifications and/ or training records
  • Information relating to your professional associations and/ or affiliations
  • Information regarding your work performance
  • Group RRSP investment information and/ or
  • Shares information held in CANTEST 

Individuals Soliciting Information or Services from the Company:

  • Your name, business address, telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address
  • Information relating to your business activities and service requirements
  • Information relating to specific projects involving services or information provided by/ to the Company
  • Financial information if and as required to establish and/ or review the suitability of extending credit to you and/ or your company
  • Other information provided to the Company through use of the Company web site and/ or other communications you have with the Company

When we do disclose personal information
As an employee or applicant for employment, your personal information can be submitted to a third party for the purpose of providing employment related benefits. The Company may disclose a client or prospect’s personal information to another company retained by CANTEST to perform functions on its behalf, such as sub-contracting analytical services. Any such disclosure of client personal information is made on a confidential basis and the information is used only for the purpose for which it was disclosed.

Accuracy and retention

  • CANTEST strives to ensure that any personal information collected is as accurate, current and complete as necessary to suit the purpose for which the company uses or may use that data. 
  • CANTEST retains personal information as long as the Company feels it is necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. The Company has internal policies and procedures in place for retention and subsequent disposition of personal information.

Access and security
Access to Personal Information by employees of the Company will occur to allow them to provide service to clients and others who may request services or information from CANTEST. The Company has internal quality systems and operating procedures for handling client information. The Company endeavors to maintain adequate physical, procedural and technical security for its web site in a manner consistent with CANTEST’s internal procedures, which ensure compliance with external regulatory affairs. Access to secure sections of the web site will be granted only after issuing unique user and password information provided by the Company. You are required under the Terms of Use not to divulge this information. Furthurmore, the Company reserves the right to remove access privileges to secure sections of the web site without notice and at its sole discretion.

Cookies                   
When visiting the CANTEST Site, the Company may store some information on your computer in the form of a “cookie”. Cookies are used track the specific web pages you visit to ensure that the Company continues to provide relevant information and services. Cookies are small text files that identify an individual computer’s browser entering the site. They do not pose a security threat to you. No personal information is stored within the cookies. 

Your Privacy rights
By submitting or communicating personal information to CANTEST, you agree to the collection and use of such information by the Company as outlined in this Policy. You may refuse to provide personal information to us or withdraw your consent at any time. Such refusal or withdrawal of permission may limit our ability to employ or serve you.

Amendment of this privacy notice
Please review this Notice periodically, especially before providing any personal information. The Company will, from time to time, revise its privacy practice and this Privacy Notice. Any amendment of this Notice will be posted on this Site and will be done in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of British Columbia.
